Donald L. Curry of Mohegan Lake, who had a protective order against him, was apprehended Thursday, Sept. 13, after police were dispatched to respond to a domestic violence fight on Palen Road in East Fishkill.

On the way to the home, officers were notified that Curry had fled the area in a red SUV. Minutes later East Fishkill Police Officer Sean Phillips spotted the vehicle on Route 52 traveling eastbound, police said.

Phillips was in a marked police vehicle and activated his emergency lights and sirens, attempting to pull Curry over, without success. Curry continued to fail to comply and intentionally struck two Town of East Fishkill police vehicles, the department said.

Officer Phillips and Sgt. Paul Gaston were eventually able to get the SUV to stop on I-84 at the on-ramp to the Taconic State Parkway, they added.

Once stopped, officers reported Curry appeared intoxicated at the time of the stop. Curry was taken into custody and charged with two counts of attempted assault, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of reckless endangerment, reckless driving, aggravated driving while intoxicated and numerous vehicle and traffic tickets.

He was processed and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000.00 cash bail or $100,000.00 bond, pending a future court date.

Officers on scene were assisted by members of the New York State Police and Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
